Mumbai has a talent pool like no other, Home for BuildersReflections on starting Home for Builders in Mumbai, hosting Season 1 kickoff, and bringing ambitious builders together.

Original essay: Everything about Home for Builders (the builder's pov) by Haider Khursheed • Jul 07, 2026

In April, I had the idea of building a place in Mumbai where people can just come and build out their ideas.

Hadn’t been a part of any community before; I just knew building one is cool, but who cares we’re not building a community.

I remember the first day when we started, no plan, no funds, no venue, just an idea to build an internet school for builders. I was in a meeting, thinking wtf am I doing w my life. But we pulled up, ppl stayed; some ppl who can’t take risks left. But builders who didn’t have an idea about how to build a startup showed up at the kickoff; man, the moment is still a dream in my eyes. All ppl around are building something.

It was insane, absolutely insane.

Now I’m concerned about Season 1 specifically because I have no idea what to do. We just brought a bunch of builders to a HQ and somehow created a cultural boom. But looking back, this is one of the best decisions I have made in the last 3 months. Learned so much about startups, culture and myself. Ppl who came to the kickoff left so close as buddies, I think, so my job is complete.

It went so well that I was in shock for a day, no idea how we pulled off the kickoff.

We started a home for those who just wanted to build their ideas.

It was just curiosity, to see what would happen if we bring 21 ambitious builders together for 3/4 months, help them build their startup ideas, and let’s see where it goes.

We hosted our Season 1 kickoff, and it was insane, absolutely insane. I never thought we could do it.

I don’t know where this will go; we’re still planning what the whole residency season will be. Let’s see :)
